Do you love watching make up videos ? Do you marvel at all the prep, contour, paint and magic they create on their own faces using atleast 20 products for just the eyes. And do you later try the same tricks in front of your bathroom mirror, animatedly talking like them to just create an epic fail clown face…Ok. i guess I described myself !
In the last two years, our lives have been overtaken by these 60 second videos, where make up maestros literally whip up miracles and transform faces ( well, a few should have just remained bare faced in my opinion !).
However , EVERY single video happens to begin with that all essential make up prep- the face oil. The marketing genius couple that own the Farsali brand swept the cosmetic world with their oils, and they made it seem like it was illegal to apply your next layer without lathering on their drops first.
There is nothing that makes me more proud than an Indian brand which can take a bull by its horns. So when I came across a local brand that was creating waves with its rose gold and volcanic oils, I had to give it a try.
First Look
I ordered it from their official website www.indulgeoessentials.com ( they have Paytm, credit/debit card and COD payment options, and did I mention free shipping (!) ). The package arrived in a couple of days in a rather plush packaging , and the apothecary type bottle itself is encased in a safe sliding box, so definitely no chance of it arriving shattered.
You need to give the bottle a good shake to uniformly mix the gold particles that are suspended in the oil, and apply a maximum of 2 to 3 drops to your entire face.
Honestly when I saw the amount of glitter in the oil, I was positive I would look like a disco ball from the 80’s, but in just a few swipes, voila ! There is absolutely no trace of the glitter and you are left with a subtle sheen and plump, moisturised but not oily skin.
I can’t really put a finger on the smell to describe it, faintly citrusy and since it is fragrance free, you just get used to the herbal kind of scent.
Ingredients List
24k Gold Flakes, Pumpkin seed oil, Rosehip Seed oil(Rosa moschata) ,Vitamin-E oil, Orangepeel oil(Citrus sinensis) , Patchouli oil , Lemongrass oil(Cymbopogon)
The base oil is pumpkin seed which is rich in Vitamin E and helps to regenerate tissue and reduce the appearance of fine lines and hyperpigmentation. The other essential oils present contain zinc and vitamin C which help firm and tighten skin.
How to use
As a moisturiser–
1. Apply the dropper straight away on the face, avoid putting it on your palm to avoid wastage of product.
2. Gently massage it in circular motions.
3. You can apply your sunblock over this, or if using it at night, you can apply your usual night cream over the layer.
As a make up base-
1. Apply it as a moisturiser all over the face and wait for a minute before applying your foundation.
2. Mix a drop into your foundation and apply all over the face and neck using a beauty blender or foundation brush.
As a lip primer
Apply a drop over the lips and massage it gently. Wait for a minute before using any liquid matte or the normal bullet matte lipstick. it avoids flaking and cracking of lips.
Over the years I. haven’t had a very good experience with many facial oils, most of them made me break out, so I was a bit apprehensive about this one. Well, the Indulgeo Rose Gold Oil wins a thumbs up just for that, been a few weeks and not a single zit in sight. My only grouse with the brand is that they could have been more innovative with atleast the names of the products, considering both the rose gold and volcanic night oils have identical ingredient lists like its rival international brand.
Aah well, which woman doesn’t like a bit of sparkle in her life, even if it disappears in seconds !
